General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR)
What is it?
On the 13th December, 2024, the General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) will become applicable. Merchants who sell with Fruugo in the EU, Northern Ireland, Norway and Switzerland are required to supply manufacturer contact details for most non-food products as part of the Regulation. Where the manufacturer is based outside of the EU, an EU representative contact must also be provided.
Contact information must be displayed both physically on the product and on your online marketplace listings.
From the 13th December, 2024, if online products do not comply Fruugo are mandated to remove the products from sale in those countries.
For further information on the Regulation, please read our compliance documentation. Legal & Compliance

What do I have to do?
Â
If you sell products in the EU, Northern Ireland, Norway and Switzerland, you’ll see a notification in the Retailer Portal that directs you to the Compliance Manager, GPSR tool.
You can upload your manufacturer contact details and EU Responsible Person details using the tool, which will update your product listings.
To get started, you will need to configure your GPSR settings by choosing how your contacts will be linked to your products. This can be achieved via the Brand or the Manufacturer field found in your product catalogue.
Example scenario:
You have chosen to link your contact details to all products via the Manufacturer field.
Let’s say you have 50 products in your catalogue which all have the manufacturer name of ‘Premier Manufacturing’.Â
Using the GPSR tool, you can add the contact details for ’Premier Manufacturing’, which will update all 50 products on the marketplace.
(subject to passing validation checks)
We recommend that you prepare your products by ensuring that you have populated the Brand or Manufacturer fields in your product catalogue for all the products you wish to sell in the EU.
Â
Configure your settings
Â
In order to configure your GPSR settings we need to know if you will be using the Brand or Manufacturer field to link your contacts to your products. This is a permanent setting, so please review the following information carefully.
Once configured, you can download a CSV document pre-populated with your brand or manufacturer information as found in your product catalogue with the required contact fields.Â
Brand
Select brand if you would like to link your GPSR contact information to all products via the Brand field in your product catalogue.
Only select this option if your products have a brand name. 'Unbranded’ is not accepted.
If you have unbranded products, we recommend that you update your product catalogue where possible or select manufacturer to proceed.
ManufacturerÂ
Select manufacturer if you would like to link your GPSR contact information to all products via the Manufacturer field in your product catalogue.
Â
Add contacts
Â
Click ‘Add New Contacts’ then download the CSV document containing the required contact fields.
The CSV document will be pre-populated with brand/manufacturer information from your product catalogue.
When you are ready, upload your document using the tool.
You can add new contacts at any time. Download your latest CSV document to ensure any additional brand/manufacturer names found in your product catalogue are captured.

Â
Validation check
Â
When you submit your contact information, we will conduct a basic address validation check. To ensure all details have been provided, we also check that all the required fields have been completed for your contacts.Â
Your contacts will be visible in the ‘Pending’ tab during this process. Once we have processed your contacts, you will receive an email notification.Â
Â
If the information is valid, the contact details will be displayed on the applicable product listings on the Fruugo marketplace.
You can view these contacts in the ‘Valid’ tab.
If there are any issues with the information you have provided such as missing information or invalid address details, then those contacts will be clearly listed in the ‘Invalid' tab.Â
To resolve any issues, please download your CSV template again, update the information and re-upload when you are ready.
