What is it?

On the 13th December, 2024, the General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) will become applicable. Merchants who sell with Fruugo in the EU, Northern Ireland, Norway and Switzerland are required to supply manufacturer contact details for most non-food products as part of the Regulation. Where the manufacturer is based outside of the EU, an EU representative contact must also be provided.

Contact information must be displayed both physically on the product and on your online marketplace listings.

From the 13th December, 2024, if online products do not comply Fruugo are mandated to remove the products from sale in those countries.

What do I have to do?

 

If you sell products in a country that is within the EU, EEA, or EFTA, you’ll see a notification in the Retailer Portal that directs you to the Compliance Manager, GPSR tool.

You can provide the required GPSR contact details for each Manufacturer listed in your product catalogue OR for each Brand listed in your product catalogue.

Submitted contact addresses will pass through a basic validation check and valid contacts will be displayed on your marketplace listings.

It is recommended that you prepare your products by ensuring that you have populated the Brand or Manufacturer fields in your product catalogue for all the products you wish to sell.

 

 

Accepted countries for Manufacturer and EU Responsible Person

 

If your manufacturer address is located within one of the below countries, you do not need to provide an EU Responsible Person. If your manufacturer address it not located within one of the below countries, you must provide the address of an EU Responsible Person that is.

Please follow these steps to provide your contacts:

Log in to Retailer Portal using your retailer credentials

Locate the Compliance menu item in the navigation pane

Click on the GPSR page under the Compliance menu item

Configure your GPSR setting by choosing either a brand or manufacturer configuration

Click on the Add New Contacts button

Download your CSV document containing the required contact fields

Complete your CSV file

Ensure there are no empty columns/rows.

Upload your CSV file

Your upload will fail if we encounter an error with your file. Please ensure you have formatted the file correctly.

Repeat the process from step 5 if you’d like to amend your contacts, or provide contact details for additional brands/manufacturers.

Uploading a CSV document will overwrite an existing file so please ensure that you include all information.

Further Guidance

 

Open the downloaded file in Microsoft Excel, Notepad/Text editor or any available editor. If you are using Microsoft Excel, you will be prompted to convert the file, please select the ‘Don’t Convert' option.

Enter all data in the file against the pre-populated brand/manufacturer values and save the file.

  1. There is no need to correct/edit the pre-populated brand/manufacturer’s names in the CSV. Additionally, brands will always be in a lowercase format within the downloaded file.

  2. Please do not make any changes to the header of the template.

  3. Make sure that the file type is comma separated file (.csv as a file extension).

  4. Save the file in UTF-8 format.

  5. The format can be verified at the bottom of the file when opened in the Notepad/text editor.

  6. OR the Format can be verified when opened in Excel by saving the file as type shown like ‘CSV UTF-8 (comma delimited) (.csv)' or just 'CSV (comma delimited) (.csv)’.

  7. Phone number editing in Excel: The county code is not required in the phone number field.

 

 

Validation check

 

Submitted contact information will pass through a basic address validation check.

Addresses are scored on quality and those considered ‘low quality’ are marked as invalid.

Your contacts will be visible in the ‘Pending’ tab during this process. Once we have processed your contacts, you will receive an email notification.

If the information is valid, the contact details will be displayed on the applicable product listings on the Fruugo marketplace.

You can view these contacts in the ‘Valid’ tab.

If there are any issues with the information you have provided such as missing information or invalid address details, then those contacts will be clearly listed in the ‘Invalid' tab. 

To resolve any issues, please repeat the process to add new contacts from step 5.

 

Troubleshooting

 

Error messages are displayed in the tool for submitted contacts that are formatted incorrectly, have missing information or have a low quality score according to our validation check.
