Extended Producer Responsibility (France)

What is it?

Merchants who sell with Fruugo in France are required to provide proof of their compliance with Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) legislation for Packaging, Electrical and Electrical Equipment (EEE), Batteries, Textiles, Furniture, Tires, Toys, Printed paper, Sports and leisure articles, Chemicals, Mineral or synthetic, lubricating or industrial oils, DIY and garden items, Construction products or materials. This legislation covers both primary (product) and secondary (shipping) packaging.

EPR is a legal requirement for marketplaces and producers to ensure that they are meeting their obligations. If you do not provide proof of your compliance, your products will not be listed for sale in France.

What do I have to do?

If you sell products in France, and have not previously provided us with your UIN and Tax Number, you’ll see a notification in Retailer Portal that some of your products are restricted due to EPR legislation.

You can share your information with us via Compliance Manager, which will update your product visibility for customers.

Please note:

  • If you do not sell products in France, you will not be required to provide a UIN and therefore will not see the Compliance Manager module in Retailer Portal.

  • You must provide your UIN and Tax Number as per the information shared with your PRO and the Ademe register, otherwise our system will not be able to validate your information and your products may still be restricted.

Haven’t got a UIN yet?

If you have not yet registered with a Producer Responsibility Organisation (PRO), please register to receive a UIN. You can find a list of possible PROs at the link below. Please be aware that Fruugo does not have a relationship or affiliation with these organisations.

If you have already registered, but have not yet received your UIN, please contact your chosen Producer Responsibility Organisation to find out when you can expect to receive your UIN.

Do you have a non-packaging UIN?

We are accepting UINs in Compliance Manager from merchants for Packaging, Electrical and Electrical Equipment (EEE), Batteries, Textiles, Furniture, Tires, Toys, Printed paper, Sports and leisure articles, Chemicals, Mineral or synthetic, lubricating or industrial oils, DIY and garden items, Construction products or materials.

As part of the EPR legislation in France, merchants must also register with the appropriate PRO for additional product categories. You are able to provide the UINs for these categories via Compliance Manager.
