Language Translation Process

There are currently up to 28 different languages supported on Fruugo which are used across the 46 countries. Each country may have the site available in multiple languages depending on the official languages spoken within the country (with English supported as a default for all countries).

How are the languages translated?

The Fruugo Translation system is the module used to translate the text information of your products into the 28 languages supported on Fruugo.

All the site content is translated and available in the 28 supported languages throughout for a truly local feel.

The product information is translated from the base language (the language you originally specify in your product feed) to all other languages throughout our platform. It allows the customer to fully view the site and each product page in their local languages, as well as having the choice to select English on all sites.

How are the Fruugo translations more convenient for me?

The Fruugo translations makes listing convenient in many ways, including:

  • You do not need to translate all your product information - title, description, and attributes into 27 other languages.
  • Each customer can view the site in their own local language.
  • Each customer orders in their own local language, while you still receive order information on your own language.
  • The translations update as you make changes to your product information.

How do Fruugo's language translation work?

All language translations operates across multiple different services which are available to do the translations. Our system utilises the most effective services for that translation, typically based on the matching of base language to translation language, and will also revert to another service following review where the original translation is not in context to provide a better result.

The translation process occurs automatically at either of two occasions - when an affiliate network feed is generated of those products, or when a customer selects to view a product in a non-native language. These translations are than processed, and stored against the product for all future use and instant loading.

Although the translated product information will be displayed to the customer, the retailer will continue to only have to handle their product information and orders in their own native language. It is one of the core USPs of our system that the only language required; displayed; and used in transactions with the retailer is their own native language with our system handling all translation.

It's a single language model that allows retailers to sell globally without having to handle the complexity of language translation, and likewise currency exchange.
