Manual File Upload
Warning |

WARNING: You must upload your entire product catalogue, every time. |
Warning |
---|
WARNING: After initial upload of your products, you must use your existing template file to update your catalogue. Starting from a fresh file every time increases the chances of a product/sku being missed and then removed from your Fruugo catalogue. |

Attribute mapping
Info |
---|
You can access your current attribute mapping at any time, to review, or make changes |
Note |
---|
An attribute can only be mapped to one Fruugo Attribute. |
Note |
---|
Changes to mappings will effect all products/SKUs in your catalogue |
You will be asked to map any custom attributes you wish to upload to the standard Fruugo attributes.
The Attribute1, Attribute2, etc, names in the Attribute (left) column correspond to the same fields in the template file.
You can map as many of the 10 available fields as you require - including none.
Info |
---|
Attributes are optional and may not apply to every product/SKU in your catalogue and can be left blank when appropriate - e.g. “clasp type” does not likely apply to furniture. |
Fruugo File Upload Template
Info |
---|
You can download an empty File Upload Template at any time by clicking the “Download Template” button. |
Info |
---|
We strongly recommend that you use Excel to complete the spreadsheet. Other tools are not supported and will likely cause issues. |
The Fruugo File Upload Template spreadsheet contains extensive use of formulas and data validation to help ensure you provide the data in the correct format. Whilst all care has been taken to ensure that users cannot enter the wrong data, attempts to alter the structure of the document will cause problems when uploading your product catalogue in to Fruugo.
Mandatory fields are highlighted in Blue.
We recommend that you fill in every column for each product.
If adding many records, the spreadsheet may run slowly when data validation is in progress. Please be patient.
Review the full Fruugo category tree by viewing the 'Fruugo Categories - Read Only' sheet.
Familiarise yourself with the layout of the template file before entering any data.

Info |

Save this file frequently to avoid data loss |
Use sheet 'Enter Data Here' to enter your product data. We recommend entering 'ProductId' (Column A) and 'SkuId' (Column B) first. These should be unique, or a unique combination, for each product/SKU.
Selecting a category
Info |
---|
Fruugo Categories are a tree structure, with branches (the intermediary sub-categories) and leaves (the final sub-category). Only leaf nodes are valid categories. You can see all possible Fruugo Categories on the 'Fruugo Categories - Read Only' sheet. |
When selecting a category, select each level in turn, starting with the 'Master Category' (Column F). Once selected, the options in 'Sub-category level 2' (Column G) will update accordingly. Continue selecting options until 'Valid category?' (Column M) reads VALID and is highlighted green, see below.
If a category selection is invalid, Column M will read INVALID and highlighted in red
Warning |
---|
Column M will show “INVALID” in two scenarios
|
Info |
---|
If you are entering multiple products or SKUs in to the same category, you can copy and paste the selections between rows. |
Entering Attributes
Data entered in to Columns AB to AK (Attribute1, Attribute2, …, Attribute10) should match the attribute mapping you have previously set up.
Info |
---|
Remember, attributes are optional and may not apply to every product/SKU in your catalogue and can be left blank when appropriate - e.g. “clasp type” does not likely apply to furniture. |
Info |

Verifying your product data
Note |
---|
Once you have entered all your products/SKUs, please review your data and ensure it is accurate to the best of your knowledge |
Warning |
---|
Ensure that all mandatory fields have been completed. Mandatory fields are highlighted in blue. Any product/SKU with missing mandatory fields will not be available for sale. |
Warning |
---|
Ensure that all categories are valid - review Column M. Any product/SKU with an invalid category will not be available for sale. |
Tip |
---|
When you are happy that all products/SKUs have valid categories and all mandatory data has been supplied, please proceed to the next step. |

Readying your product data for upload - Windows
Note |
---|
We strongly recommend you save a backup copy of the Fruugo File Upload Template file before you proceed. You will need the .xlsx files to update your catalogue in the future. |
To upload your product data, you need to save the 'data-import.csv' sheet as a separate CSV file.
File -> Click File > Options > Advanced.
Under Editing options, clear the Use system separators check box.
Set Decimal separator to period (.)
Set Thousands separator to comma (,)
Click OK
Then:
Select the data-import.csv' sheet, and go to File > Save As…
Click 'File Format' and select 'Comma-separated values (.csv)'
Give the file a suitable name, e.g. 'data-import.csv', and save
You will get a warning that the file format does not support multiple sheets, that only the active sheet will be saved, and some functionality will be lost. This is expected and can ignored. Click OK to proceed.
Check file has been saved to the location chosen, and then close Excel.
Now, confirm that your file has saved correctly.

Before you begin
Warning |
---|
WARNING: You must use your existing template file to update your catalogue. Starting from a fresh file every time increases the chances of a product/sku being missed and then removed from your Fruugo catalogue. |
Find your existing Fruugo File Upload Template which you saved as part of readying your product data for upload.
Updating product data
New Products/SKUs
New products/SKUs can be added as new lines. Fruugo will treat any new ProductID, or ProductID/SKUID combination, as a new item.
Removing a Product/SKU
All you need to do is delete the contents of the row.
You can safely re-use rows to add new products as long as they have a new ProductID, or ProductID/SKUID combination.
Updating a Product/SKU
Info |
---|
ProductID, or ProductID/SKUID combination must be kept the same to update an item. A new combination will be treated as a new product, and the old product will be removed. |
When a product data file is uploaded, and Fruugo recognises a ProductID or ProductID/SKUID combination, we will update details for that Product/SKU.
For example, if you want to update a product description, all you need to do is change the text in Column Y (Description).
Changing the ProductID or ProductID/SKUID combination will cause the system to treat the row as a new item, and to delete the old item.
Verifying your product data

Ensure that all categories are valid - review Column M. Any product/SKU with an invalid category will not be available for sale. |
Tip |

When you are happy that all products/SKUs have valid categories and all mandatory data has been supplied, please proceed to the next step. |
Version control and readying your product data for upload
Note |
---|
You may now have multiple version of the Fruugo File Upload Template. It is your responsibility to keep these files safe. We recommend adopting a file naming structure which makes it easy to tell when a file was last uploaded - e.g. “Fruugo Catalogue - 2023-02-20.xlsx”. |
